Successful Contract Completion on M6 and A38 Motorways

Fitzgerald has successfully completed a vital Gantry and Bridge Sign installation scheme on the M6 (M) and A38 (M) as part of Birmingham City Council’s plans to introduce a Clean Air Zone in 2021, which will improve air quality and discourage the most polluting vehicles from entering the zone.

Since the beginning of November, the Fitzgerald team worked during night-time closures on the inbound M6 (M) Aston Expressway and A38 (M) to install new signage on 6 existing gantries and 1 bridge. The signs will provide advanced driver notice of the Clean Air Zone that will be operational around the A4540 Ring Road.

It is a credit to our team’s close collaboration with Birmingham City Council and traffic management partner Traffix, which has resulted in safe and efficient working practices and meeting our programme.

Fitzgerald have also successfully completed a second Clean Air Zone contract for Birmingham City Council to install camera poles and electrics along key locations on the A4540 Ring Road in Birmingham.
