Jaguar Land Rover Kingsbury Road

Fitzgerald Contractors were awarded a highways improvement by client BAM which involved construction of a Section 278 works to facilitate a new multi-storey car park being built for Jaguar Land Rover. The scheme involved the construction of the new entrance for the car park, including forming a central reserve crossover of the busy Tyburn Road, a main arterial route into Birmingham. Both the crossover and conversion of the existing footway into the carriageway involved significant utility diversions., and formed a critical aspect of the programme .

The works involved:
· Pre-contract trial holes of the utilities in the central reserve and nearside verge
· Excavation and formation of widening to create the routes for the utility diversions
· Installation of utility, traffic signal and lighting ducting
· New kerb lines and placement of road stone
· Completion of excavation following the diversion works
· Drainage construction
· Formation of new footways
· Installation of new street lighting, signage and traffic signals
· Surfacing works
· Topsoiling and seeding of new verges
· Commissioning of new traffic signals including VMS sign
