Hucknall High Street Improvements
Fitzgerald Contractors have successfully delivered key highways and public realm works as part of the redevelopment of Hucknall Town Centre in Nottinghamshire. The High Street forms the final part of the £7.5m scheme delivered to Nottinghamshire County Council by a Carillion Tarmac JV, for which Fitzgerald Contractors have undertaken the civils work elements over 4 phases to minimise disruption to the public.
The regeneration included the installation of paving along with the remodelling of the High Street junctions with Baker St and Watnall Road. Primary sandstone paving materials were used to match the heritage look of the surrounding area, and new street furniture and a planting scheme was also incorporated in our works package.
The works were completed in a live environment and a series of measures were put in place by Fitzgerald to ensure minimal disruption to the vehicles and pedestrians and particularly the numerous businesses. Fitzgerald managed the liaison process with the stakeholders and local traders to ensure that access was maintained to their premises at all times and trading was not disrupted.
A detailed phasing plan was prepared and agreed to ensure that our works were, at all times, fully segregated from the public whilst ensuring that pedestrian routes were easy to follow and clearly signed.
