Fitzgerald’s Ongoing Fleet Upgrade Brings Low Carbon Benefits

Fitzgerald Contractors continues to upgrade its vehicle fleet and have recently taken delivery of new Ford Connect and Ford Transit vans which comply with Euro-6 emissions standards, helping to combat air pollution and meet our sustainability targets.

Euro-6 technology reduces the harmful Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) exhaust emissions of all new diesel and petrol engines (meeting the permitted levels of a maximum 80mg/km). This means that our Ford diesel engines fully meet both the London 2020 Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) clean air requirements and Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone (CAZ) from 2020.

Our new vehicles emit less CO2 as well as a 55% reduction in NOx emissions. Further green credentials of the new engine are that it can save £1,250 in fuel over 80,000 miles, whilst service intervals have been extended up to two years/36,000 miles.

Fitzgerald Contractors Managing Director Nick Coley said: “Fitzgerald is committed to investing and growing the business in a sustainable way, and with these new additions to our fleet we are ahead of the game with the new low emission rules. Our approach has always been that modern, less polluting vehicles are undoubtedly better for everyone’s health, and this latest investment in ultra-low emission transport is further proof of our commitment to the community and the environment’’.
