Fitzgerald Completes Highway and Public Realm Scheme at Loughborough

The company have successfully delivered key infrastructure works as part of the Bedford Square Gateway Improvements in Loughborough, Leicestershire. The £2.9 million contract was one of the very first to be awarded as part of Fitzgerald’s place on the Crown Commercial Service Construction Works and Associated Services Framework Lot 1.2.1.

Working as principal contractor for new client Charnwood Borough Council, the scheme covered an area of 6,860m2 with key project deliverables including utility diversions, footway widening, provision of high-quality granite paving together with carriageway realignment and resurfacing.

To safely carry out the project in a live environment works were undertaken across five key phases, with our site team incorporating the needs and requirement of residents, businesses and visitors to facilitate access for vehicles and pedestrians. Now complete, the ‘pedestrians first’ scheme has enhanced the quality of public realm and provides enhanced pedestrian connectivity.
