Construction of a new access road including roundabout and carriageway re-profiling for a new Sainsburys and industrial units. Other works involved the installation of highway drainage a new foul water sewer requiring two S104 agreements. The Section 38 works involved the construction of a circulatory road system linking the new access off the Macclesfield Road with the new Sainsbury and Industrial Units. The road required two new bridges to be constructed over the River Churnet within the main body of the Section 38 works along with a third bridge for future development.
Design and build project for the installation of the footbridge undertaken as part of the “Connecting Skelmersdale” project serving the Concourse Shopping Centre at Skelmersdale, West Lancashire.
The bridge was installed to replace an ageing structure and incorporated an innovative cable stay and mast solution to span a fast food restaurant and overcome the need for supports adjacent to the carriageway.
The scheme also involved careful planning and night time working to maintain daytime access into the Shopping Centre.
