Fitzgerald Contractors Raise over £25,000 for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice

Fitzgerald Contractors are delighted to have presented a cheque for £25,552 to Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice.

The monies were raised through the annual ‘Treecycling’ Scheme and donations made by Fitzgerald Contractors in support of Birmingham St Mary’s, who is their chosen charity.

The Treecycling scheme completed over the weekend of 9th and 10th of January was a tremendous success with over 1200 trees collected. Employees of Fitzgerald Contractors volunteered their time to collect Christmas Trees for recycling. A team of 40 staff using 15 vans collected trees from the Birmingham area local to the hospice with collections up over 60% from the previous year.

Nick Coley Managing Director Fitzgerald Contractors

‘We are delighted to support Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice both as our chosen charity and as the Principle Partner of the annual Treecycling Campaign. The spirit on the collection weekend was fantastic with all staff giving up their time for free to support an excellent cause. This was our third year supporting the collection and we are seeing donations made and trees collected rise every year. We are already working with the Hospice planning for next year’s collection and look forward to another record year. I’m delighted to confirm we will also continue to support Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice as our chosen charity in 2016.’

Laura Rollason, Community Fundraiser *Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice*

‘We’d like to thank Fitzgerald Contractors for taking part in Treecycling 2016, helping us to collect over 1,200 trees and raise £15,552 for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice. Thanks to your generosity in giving your time and vehicles for free, 100% of this total goes directly to help the Hospice.
We provide vital care to over 1,200 people living with terminal illnesses in Birmingham and Sandwell and their families, and your help has played a huge part in helping us offer this support. This amount could fund the Day Hospice service for a month, or provide complete Hospice at Home care for 8 patients who wish to stay at home.
We are incredibly grateful for your support; without which we couldn’t continue to grow Treecycling each year. We look forward to working with you again!’

Hamish Shilliday, Head of Fundraising

“We would just like to say a massive thank you to Fitzgerald Contractors Ltd for supporting our Treecycling campaign for another year. This year was a record both in terms of trees collected and income for the Hospice. Over £15,000 has been raised to support the work of our nurses and doctors and we couldn’t have done this without the support of all the Fitzgerald staff, thank you so much.”
