After several years of playing a key part in planning and pre-construction works, Fitzgerald Contractors, part of the Bouygues Construction Group, are now well under way in delivering highways and construction work to Shirley Town Centre. The £85 million regeneration scheme is set to bring new shops and homes to the busy town in Solihull by Easter 2014.
Shirley ‘Park Gate’ as it will be known, will bring much needed retail expenditure with 20 new blue-chip stores and shops alongside a new ASDA superstore, numerous cafes and restaurants.
The development has been designed to complement and extend the existing shopping area to encourage shoppers back into the town centre. This, together with the creation of up to 800 job,s will help support the local economy, breathing new life into the area.
A major part of this includes the £3.7million package for the infrastructure and public realm works which will be delivered by Fitzgerald.
Operations Manager, Alex Fish, commented: “Fitzgerald have spent more than 18 months assisting our client and other delivery partners to push this scheme through the preconstruction and planning phase. Throughout this time we have been involved in delivering significant cost reductions. It is extremely satisfying to see the works progressing so well on site, clearly reflecting the effect that the investment of time, knowledge and expertise has on achieving success.”
