Fitzgerald (Civil Engineer Contractors)

Work continues on Dudley’s exciting £6.7m market place redevelopment

Fitzgerald Contractors have commenced work on the next phase of works for Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council in Dudley Town Centre.

The works are located right through Dudley’s historic market place and include a newly designed market featuring 74 stalls, new paving, feature lighting and street furniture.

The scheme will also involve the repositioning and refurbishment of the Duncan Edwards statue. The historic fountain will also be restored and the Earl of Dudley statue will be reset within a raised lawn.

The design of the market place stalls will also incorporate artwork and clocks while artwork will also be undertaken to improve the mediaeval passages in the conservation area of the town centre including Green Man Entry, Long Entry and Rutland Passage.

‘We are nearing completion of Phase one of the works which incorporates the redevelopment of Castle Street from the Earl of Dudley statue to the junction of New Street. Through working closely with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council we are now able to progress onto Phase Two where Fitzgerald will be providing a single point of delivery for all works. Fitzgerald Contractors are delighted to be involved in this prestigious project that will provide a facility and environment the people of Dudley can be proud of for many years to come’.
