Fitzgerald employees working on a £200 million development on behalf of Tesco Stores Ltd have been awarded ‘Contractor of the Month’ by main contractor Vinci Construction UK.
New Square in West Bromwich is being developed by Spenhill, the regeneration arm of Tesco.
Richard Cartwright and his team were scored on various items including prevention of accidents, positive team work, health, safety and environmental compliance, acceptable behaviour and housekeeping.
Following the completion and opening of a new linkway for the development in May 2012 Fitzgerald Contractors continue to provide section 278 works including constructing an area of high quality granite paving in a focal area near Sandwells arts trust building “The Public”.
Other 278 works include the re alignment of access roads to 1,900 car parking area spaces and service yards for a new eight-screen Odean cinema and restaurants which are expected to open in summer 2013, as well as re-building a busy 4 way junction to improve traffic flows and accommodate the revised road layout surrounding the New Square development..
