Fitzgerald Contractors have been appointed by Birmingham City Council as one of its’ preferred highways improvements contractors for the next four years to 2018.
The Highways and Infrastructure Works Framework Agreement has been broken down into four lots governing minor and major works in the West Midlands.
Fitzgerald Contractors are one of only two Contractors who have been appointed under all four lots of the Framework, which is estimated to be a £200m works programme. The Framework can also be utilised by other West Midland public sector bodies which has the potential to increase the works programme significantly.
The works will include general highway and junction improvements, traffic signal installations, provision of bus and cycle lanes, public realm and environmental works, utility diversions and connections, flood alleviation works and highway maintenance.
Managing Director Nick Coley confirmed:
‘We have worked closely with Birmingham City Council and neighbouring Authorities for many years, and are delighted to have secured our place on the Framework.
We believe we offer a unique service in the range and scope of projects we are able to deliver; this flexibility enables us to meet the needs of our Clients whatever their requirements, and is why we have been appointed to all four lots of the Framework.
Strategically the award should provide a steady pipeline of work over the next four years, in recent years the company has achieved significant growth and the award of this long term Framework will be key in ensuring this growth continues.’
