Fitzgerald Contractors have secured a £2.4m infrastructure contract at the Arena Central development in the heart of Birmingham.
Fitzgerald will undertake hard and soft landscaping works to form public realm areas, utilising a pallet of high specification materials including granite to be imported from China.
The works form part of the Galiford Try Arena Central scheme, constructing a 220,000 sq ft office building for HSBC bank and the regeneration of the surrounding area, worth in excess of £400m.
Situated within the city centre Enterprise Zone, Arena Central is bordered by Broad Street, Bridge Street, Holliday Street and Suffolk Street Queensway and is adjacent to Centenary Square, one of Birmingham’s most high-profile public spaces which is due to undergo a comprehensive £8 million refurbishment, for which Fitzgerald Contractors are also the preferred Contractor.
The extension to the Midland Metro tram, work on which is already underway, will include a stop on Broad Street, directly adjacent to the Arena Central site, further enhancing the site’s connectivity to the rest of the city.
Nick Coley said “We are delighted to be working with Galliford Try at Arena Central, as a ‘Birmingham’ Contractor it is great to be playing a part in the regeneration of the city centre. The scheme is great news for Birmingham and we are proud to be involved”
