A major milestone has been reached at Fitzgerald Contractors scheme at Bicester Village, with the completion of the 1st Hamburger Island.
The completion of the first island on the A41 is part of a £5m highway improvement scheme, to facilitate the expansion of the retail village, this includes widening access and improving the approach into Bicester to tackle any additional congestion.
Work has also begun on the neighbouring roundabout and a new dual carriageway in and out Bicester Village. The overall scheme is due to complete in autumn 2017.
Miranda Markham, Bicester Village Community Relations Director “We are pleased with the progress to date and have been fortunate to have had good weather during the early phase of the project. We are continuing to work with Oxford County Council and Highways Authority to keep any disruption to road users to a minimum.”
Fitzgerald Operations Director Alex Fish confirmed ‘The project is a complex highways scheme that has required detailed phasing and coordination. We are delighted with the progress achieved to date and that we have been able to ensure that disruption to the general public has been minimal. We look forward to the successful completion of the scheme.’
