Hucknall Town Centre Regeneration nears completion

Fitzgerald Contractors are nearing completion of an 18 month scheme to redevelop the town of Hucknall, approx. 7miles North West of Nottingham. The initial phase of the works to form an Inner Ring Road was completed in 2016, this was followed by the High Street regeneration, which is programmed to complete at the end of June. The High Street forms the final part of the £7.5m scheme delivered to Nottinghamshire County Council by a Carillion Tarmac JV, for which Fitzgerald Contractors have undertaken the civils work elements.

The High Street scheme, which has been carried out in 4 phases to minimise disruption to the public, has been delivered to meet the high architectural specification. Primary sandstone paving materials have been used to match the heritage look of the surrounding area.

The regeneration has included the installation of paving along with the remodelling of the High St junctions with Baker St and Watnall Road. New street furniture and a planting scheme to complement that of the wider Inner Relief Road scheme has also been undertaken.

The benefits of the scheme are already evident with once derelict shops being re-let, a positive outlook from current business owners, along with an enthusiastic response from the public.
